ATV Winterization and Storage: Complete Off-Season Guide

How you store your ATV determines how it starts in spring. Follow this guide and your machine fires up first kick after months in the garage.

Winterization Checklist

  1. Fresh oil and filter change - used oil is acidic and damages internals during storage
  2. Fuel stabilizer - add Sta-Bil to a full tank, run 10 minutes
  3. Fogging oil in cylinders - remove spark plug, spray, reinstall
  4. Battery tender - NOCO Genius or Battery Tender Jr prevents sulfation
  5. Coolant check - 50/50 mix protects to -34F
  6. Cable lube - throttle, brake, and choke cables prevent seizing
